DIY Gear Indicator, Shift Light and Flags

DIY Gear Indicator, Shift Light and Flags

With new features added to iRacing, the arduino Pit Board that I made 10+ years ago is now very much obsolete. This gave me the opportunity to create something that I have been thinking about for some time and use up the newly freed up real estate on my sim rig.

Using a ~$20 Waveshare ESP32-C6 1.47inch display, I created a sketch and driver app to show the current gear, when to shift, pit limiter and a few other little things. The board also has an LED on it which I have aligned to flags in the game.

The app that drives it uses the pyirsdk library to connect to iRacing and the screen. I have used it for a day or two and there is no lag on the tiny screen.

I think the next steps are to design and 3D print or laser cut a clear surround/case that the LED on the board can illuminate when flags trigger and give me better mounting options compared to the painters tape I am currently using.

I have a second screen, so if anyone has any other ideas, let me know?
